So, Jordan and I have been noticing that almost everyone have blogs now so we have decided to make one too. We both have facebooks, and we thought that would be enough, but not everyone has a facebook so from now on I think we are going to be posting our pictures and letting people know what we are up to through blogspot.com.
Now I hope you all enjoy the picture of Jordan and I on our title page. It took forever to get the right colors and make it all fit into the title page without having a little of the picture out of the box. I think I'm getting pretty rusty using photoshop.
So for an update on all that has been going on. Jordan and I have been in Albion, Indiana for the summer. I took a summer internship opportunity at Black Pine Animal where I get to work with tigers, monkeys, a Patagonian cavy (second largest rodent in the world), lots of reptiles, lions, and so many others. It's really been an amazing experience. I work 5 days a week from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm doing a lot of hard labor. It's been great being so active and being around all the animals. I'll tell you though, by the time I get home I'm exhausted. Thankfully Jordan has agreed to make the dinners for the summer. He has been so supportive through this whole summer. I'm glad to see that he has so much time to practice too! Right now he has been learning how to play the flute and clarinet. He's definitely better than I ever could be on the flute. He is very devoted to his music. Truly it takes a very special person to be so musically talented.
Well, that is the quick update for what's been going on. Hope everything is going well and I hope you all come and visit our blog often for that "ten minute cuddle with the Laytons". By the way, the reason for the name is cause for Valentines day Jordan gave me all these cute little cards that had little things he would do for me like cleaning the bathroom or make dinner that night and on many of them was written "10 minute cuddle". So now, when I've been having a hard day or something, I'll ask Jordan for one of those 10 minute cuddles and everything seems so much better after them. I hope that our blog will do the same and brighten up your day. We love you all very much! Have a great DAY!
On Friday we went to Colubus, OH. First we got some East Coast goodness, Rita's Water Ice, which is unexplainable but amazing and I (Jordan) have missed it dearly. Then we went to the Temple which was awesome. That was of course the highlight of the day, but the Jazz and Rib Fest that followed was pretty darn good as well. Along the riverfront there were two stages with jazz groups playing. The one in the picture, "Albino!", played Afro-beat, which is basically funkish. On the other side was a great jazz fusion band, "The Motet" from Boulder. Then there were rows and rows of Rib vendors from all over the country flaunting their copious (or non-copious) trophies and winnings banners, including Famous Dave's. We had "Lick My Ribs (@ Desperado's)" and it was nothing to complain about (though Cali's jeans might have good reason). We felt all at the same time excited by the food and music and intimidated by the gangster-dressed fight-picking folk (perhaps partly because the police were busy either mingling amongst themselves with their own BBQ pork sandwiches or showing off their Segway tricycles (yeah, Segways with a front wheel... figure that one out). Somehow we got home safe, barely-awake, and a bit poorer but quite content.
